  Physical Activity

Do you spend most of your day sitting at a desk and most of your evenings perched in front of the television set? If so, the odds are that you aren’t getting enough physical activity to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, remedying this problem probably isn’t as difficult as you think it’s going to be. People who are usually inactive can improve their health and well-being by becoming even moderately active on a regular basis.

Benefits of Physical Activity:

Regular physical activity – whether it is yoga, walking or ballroom dancing – has an incredible impact on health and well-being. When performed most days of the week, activity reduces the risk of developing or dying from some of the leading causes of illness and death in the United States.

Physical activity does not need to be hard to provide some benefit. Participating in moderate-intensity physical activity is a vital component of a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages and abilities. There is no demographic or social group in America that could not benefit from becoming more active.

Body Recall

Body Recall is an educational and exercise experience for everybody. The Body Recall fitness program was specifically developed to fit people of all ages and physical abilities. The participants learn about their bodies, how they work and the importance of daily movement.

Regardless of your current physical condition, Body Recall can help improve your strength, flexibility, balance and, quite possibly forever change your attitude about exercise. The following exercise implements are used in class – a chair, foam ball, elastic rope, and floor mat. These are intentionally familiar items; there are no big equipment investments, and movements may be practiced at home.

The Health Department is pleased to announce that there are three certified Body Recall instructors that offer classes free to the public. Currently there is no charge for the Body Recall classes. The location for these classes will be the Franklin County Public Health Center at 851 East-West Connector.

Please do not call to register for these classes. Each and every class will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis. There is sufficient seating for up to 43 participants.
